Materials Used For Teeth FillingMaterials used for dental filling include gold, silver, and composite filler. These materials have their specific advantages and disadvantages. As a result, you will require expert advice on which filling is best for you. Our offices are always open for such advice. You can also contact us via phone calls for clarifications. A tooth filling is usually done to sections of teeth removed due to tooth decay or repair broken teeth.

Gold fillings

Cast gold is a popular filling material among m0st of our patients. This popularity may be attributed to its durability. Cast gold fillings may last up to a decade and even longer. In addition, the filling does not become corroded and is more attractive compared to other filling materials. The only downside of gold fillings is the high cost associated with the material.

Silver fillings

Silver amalgam is just as durable as gold casts. The filling material is preferred since they are more affordable compared to gold. However, the silver material is not considered very attractive as it contrasts the color of the teeth. It is also important to note that the material contains mercury which may be released in the mouth, leading to severe health problems.

Composite fillings

Composite fillings are very flexible as they are used for filling tooth decay sections in the teeth and repairing chipped or broken teeth. The color of the filling material can be matched to that of the teeth making their appearance very appealing. This material is, however, more pricy than the silver fillings.

Some of the factors to be considered when choosing a dental filling may include the severity of your tooth decay, your insurance cover, and the cost of the filler you prefer. Our dentists recommend dental fillings after analyzing all these factors. Check us out today for dental fillings.
